Campendonk, Heinrich (1889-1957)

German Expressionist painter, printmaker and stained glass artist. Campendonk studied at Fachschule für Textilindustrie and the Kunstgewerbeschule in Krefeld (1905/9) where he gained an introduction to the works of Vincent van Gogh and Paul Cézanne then in 1911 he joined Franz Marc and Vasily Kandinsky whose style is often visible in Campendonk's works. Campendonk liked to experiment with styles such as Cubism, Futurism and Orphism.
